Alpha

A couple of my beloved iberian wolves (Canis lupus signatus), the male above the female. Because of the pack's hierarchy, only the Alpha possess the right of having cubs generally. But they have other duties in compensation, such as taking care of every member and leading the pack.

Just another doodle done in class, but I felt it was special and wanted to complete it. I like it because it seems to be done with watercolors.

Drawn traditionally without reference (all in my head ^^) and painted with only three colours (black, orange and cream) in Photoshop. Maybe two hours and a half.


EDIT: I must say that my knowledge about wolves' behaviour is not updated. So, after a little chat with ~Keirana, I have to point out that this hierarchy works only for small packs. Greater ones are more flexible. If you have any doubts, go and ask her ^^

Una pareja de mis queridos lobos ibéricos (Canis lupus signatus), el macho sobre la hembra. Debido a la jerarquía de la manada, sólo los Alfa poseen el derecho a tener cachorros generalmente. Pero tienen otras tareas en compensación, como cuidar a cada miembro y liderar la manada.

Sólo un garabato hecho en clase, pero sentí que era especial y quería completarlo. Me gusta porque parece hecho con acuarelas.

Dibujado de forma tradicional sin referencia (todo en mi cabeza ^^) y pintado con sólo tres colores (negro, naranja y crema) en Photoshop. Quizás dos horas y media.


EDIT: Debo decir que mi conocimiento sobre el comportamiento de los lobos no está actualizado. De modo que, después de una pequeña charla con ~Keirana, debo puntualizar que esta jerarquía funciona sólo en pequeñas manadas. Otras más grandes son más flexibles.
